Our Church in Transition

The Transition Team is proposing the adoption of eleven (11) recommendations. These may be viewed in the Information section under the Church Business heading.

Where are we today?

• Without a senior pastor for the 1st time in 15 years but not without a Founder
     -The church is built on Him
• Dedicated staff
     -Committed to bonding together as we work through this process
     -All the staff has vowed to accept additional responsibilities and recommit to their current ministry efforts

• The team consists of fifty members from the church that come from broad age groups and varied backgrounds. This ensures that all age groups are represented and have input on the transistion process.

Transition team charter-

• Recommend the hiring of a Transition Pastor.
• Guide the congregation through a self-study process that looks for God’s movement.
• Decide on how to best involve the congregation in dealing with these tasks.
• Recommend to the congregation when to end the self-study and to begin the search for a pastor.

Where is the Transition Team in this process?

• Lined up several preachers to fill the pulpit up through the first part of March.
• Vetted a list of 26 candidates down to 6. Prayerfully considering the path forward on these men.
• Demographic study complete on our church and the local area. Results to be analyzed.
• Self-study will begin once the Transition Pastor comes on board.

What do we need to be doing as a church?

• Continue to pray for the transition team
• As Matthew Cook stated, “Keep pointing people to Jesus.”
• Stay positive
     -Not the first time we’ve been without a senior pastor; won’t be the last.
     -FBC Lawton will NOT fall apart!
• Increase your commitment
     -Various ministries (Step up to the plate!)
     -Take ownership of your responsibilities
• Financial support
• Recommit yourself to your relationship to God
• Encourage those around you

• God’s man to serve as our Transitional Pastor for this church at this time
• Church staff
• Each other
