Upward Basketball is a ministry designed to use basketball to teach each child about SALVATION, CHARACTER, and SELF-ESTEEM as they learn the skills of the game of basketball.
Upward Sports, the world’s largest Christian sports program for children, was created with a vision to provide the best sports experience possible for every child. Each year some one million people around the world play, coach, referee or volunteer in Upward Sports Leagues and Camps hosted by more than 2,400 churches. Anyone – children and volunteers of any faith or no faith – can participate in Upward Sports. Specifically designed for children in K5- fifth grade, Upward Sports aims to bring out “the winner” in every child – regardless of the game’s score.
First Baptist Church of Lawton offers basketball and cheerleading. Any child that is in K-5 up to 5th grade is able to play. Each season consists of one evaluation, 9 practices, 8 games, and one celebration at the end of the season. All participants will receive a full uniform specific to the sport they are playing, along with necessary accessories.
Upward promotes character and fun for every child by:
Participating in Upward gives children a chance to experience good sportsmanship on and off the court. Children receive a special recognition award after every game and have the opportunity to develop new friendships.
