Life's Holding Patterns

Speaker: Dan Crawford
Series: Luke 24:46-49

Summary: An airline scenario: “Ladies & Gentlemen, this is your Captain – initial decent, etc. Leveling off. Captain: “We have been put into a holding pattern. Last thing I want is a jumbo jet in a traffic jam. “Lo, I am with you.” But life is like that. Holding patterns, such as: (1) Locker Room before big game. Crowds at frenzy, band playing, coach’s pep talk, ready…now “Wait” = Holding pattern (2) Doctor’s Office, Dr. finally gives report, cured, no sign of problem, do what you want, return to normal. . . now “Wait.’ = Holding pattern (3) On job. Supervisor says you’re doing great. All reviews and evaluations are good. However, going to wait on the salary raise. = Holding pattern (3) Church, pastor gone, ready to move on, get new pastor, future, now “Wait” (4) Graduated – ready for next phase of life – Wait! = Holding pattern. Life’s most difficult command –“Wait” - places us in holding patterns. Jesus talked to His disciples about this very subject.
