How It All Began

Summary: The Christian Post conducted an Internet survey of 37 million Bible verses and revealed that 87 of the top 100 favorites are in the New Testament John 3:16 was 1st followed by five other New Testament verses, then #7 = Genesis 1:1. Five verses from Genesis 1 were in the top 100 favorite verses in the Bible. I suppose the popularity of Genesis 1 is because it tells us How it All Began. Before creation there was only God – eternal, pre-existent, without beginning or ending. If you can believe the first four words in the English Bible – Bere-shith-ma-ha in Hebrew – you should be able to believe the reminder of the book. If God was in fact before all things and created all things, God can do all things, including the things mentioned in the Bible. So profound is Genesis 1 that Jews were forbidden to read or explain it before reaching the age of 30.
